“The Other Side of Privilege” is a personal project that attempts to raise awareness of the issues affecting men. As an Australian male I’ve been told all my life that I am advantaged, empowered and privileged but I would challenge that.
It is a subject rarely discussed let alone photographed. It is a story that is untold and always ignored.
Through my passion for documentary photography blended with fine art work and the use of accepted statistics, this project attempts to create a conversation that challenges the notion of male privilege.
Each image I have created is an artistic expression of my interpretation of each issue raised in this series.
Each image is timeless as defining a time period is sometimes difficult representing the longevity of time these social issues have existed.

More men die from cancer yet only receive a quarter of the funding that women’s health does.

35.3% of men experienced family violence yet are excluded from domestic violence support.

Men are 20 times more likely to die through workplace accidents than women.

Men make up 92% of the prisoner population. (Australian Bureau of Statistics (2019) - 4517.0)
